Originally, I made for a client on the occasion of his wife's 50th Birthday. It included an inlay of the Korean character that combines the names of their two daughters. Since then, it has become a popular item. The second tray was made for a client using the heartwood (the center of the tree - the oldest wood) and sapwood  (the outer rings of the tree - the youngest wood) from a walnut tree from their property. There is about a generation of years between the heartwood and sapwood in this tree and hopefully the tray will be used for generations to come.
